Lectra/San Marine Sanitation Treatment System The Raritan Lectra/San waste treatment system kills coliform bacteria in sewage meeting U.S.C.G./EPA Type I standards for legal overboard discharge from boats under 65 feet. The system has a small holding tank with a built-in macerator and two electrodes that convert salt water into a disinfectant. When operated in fresh water the system requires an optional salt water tank which adds enough salt to form the disinfectant. When discharged overboard, the disinfectant reverts back to salt and water preserving the fragile marine environment, and the sterilized waste dissipates. The Lectra/San is the sensible way for boaters to deal with marine toilet waste: no need to add costly chemicals, the sealed compact unit can easily fit anywhere within 6 feet of the head, and it avoids pump out station hassles while keeping the water safe and clean.
